Trampoline Weight Limit: How much weight can a trampoline hold?

June 15, 2021

So you’re looking to buy a trampoline? Woohoo, a lifetime of fun is about to begin for your family!

There are so many shapes, sizes and brands of trampolines out there, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. After all, there are so many things to look for when researching trampolines - price, quality, safety, customer support, warranty, weight rating and lots more! You may also like to check out our blog 7 questions to ask before buying a trampoline.

Here's everything you need to know about a trampoline’s weight rating.

So what do we mean by weight rating?

It basically means how much total weight a trampoline can hold safely. Most manufacturers use this as a guide on how robust their trampolines are. So a high weight rating helps maximise the fun and keeps your kids safe!  Jumpflex has one of the best weight ratings on the market.

What determines a trampoline's weight rating?

It’s all about the materials the trampoline is made of - the trampoline frame, springs and mat all play a big part. The springs are super important as the springs take the majority of the weight when someone is jumping. Plus good springs means smooth, deep bouncing and maximum airtime!

What is Jumpflex trampolines weight rating?

Our 10ft trampolines can hold a 150kg load and our 12ft, 14ft and 15ft trampolines can hold an impressive 250kg load. This means more fun for the whole family! *We do recommend just one jumper at a time, to avoid people colliding into one another.

What makes a Jumpflex trampoline strong and sturdy?

Well we’ve spent over 7 years refining our trampolines to be as tough as they can be. Here’s three ways we’ve made our trampolines strong.

    1. Strong, steel frames - Our trampoline frames are engineered from 42mm high-tensile steel combined with durable 2mm T-joint assemblies to form a stable and springy foundation. All the metal components of our Jumpflex trampoline are treated with a six layer rust proofing process as well as an inner and outer zinc galvanising to improve its strength and stop the trampoline from buckling or losing its shape.

    2. Flexible, high tensile springs - We have invested in engineering the best springs on the market. We use galvanised 180mm steel extension springs, which are treated with heavy duty zinc, so the springs won’t rust.

    3. Firmly secured mats - Our trampoline safety mats are firmly secured to the frame.

These features combine to make the trampoline as strong and safe as possible. Check out our blog which is all about trampoline safety.

It was a milestone for us in March 2021, when our 10ft trampoline was awarded the tick for Safety from Consumer NZ. This means we are the first ever coil sprung trampoline to get the tick!

Our aim is to bring you one of the strongest trampolines in Australia! We back our trampolines so much, we decided to put our trampolines to the test. Watch our video to see when we applied one tonne of pressure to the Jumpflex trampoline frame.

Can an adult use a 10ft trampoline?

An adult can use a 10ft trampoline, but note that our 10ft trampolines are compact, and are perfect for small yards. 10ft trampolines measure 3.1m with a 2.5m jumping mat diameter which is perfect for beginner bouncers. We recommend our larger sizes -12ft, 14ft and 15ft trampolines for adults.

What size trampoline is best for adults?

We recommend buying the biggest size Jumpflex trampoline, depending of course, on your yard space and what will work for you and your family. It's important that you measure up your yard space to ensure your new trampoline will fit. Our 15ft trampoline is the best trampoline for adults and measures a huge 4.6m so the whole family can enjoy a bigger, deeper bounce.

What happens if you put too much weight on a trampoline?

We recommend you stick to the 250kg weight limit (or 150kg for our 10ft), if you exceed it, the springs of the trampoline may stretch losing their great bounce, or the trampoline frame could bend which can result in an accident.

Trampoline weight rating vs user weight rating?

A trampoline weight rating is referred to as the maximum weight capacity a trampoline can hold. It is different to a 'user’s weight capacity' or 'static user weight' which is the maximum weight of a single bouncer. This is to ensure a jumper doesn't 'bottom out' which means to touch the ground while jumping. To ensure you get the best bounce out of a Jumpflex trampoline we recommend a user weight capacity not to exceed 90kg.
