Nixon Banks | Jumpflex Athlete

Nixon Banks aged 11 years old is a BMX rider based out of Hamilton. From a very young age Nixon was off like a rocket, at age two the trainer wheels were ditched off his bike and his outstanding talent then saw him racing competitively at the age of three. Right from the beginning Nixon loved bikes and his natural ability and ‘no fear’ attitude was early on identified by his parents who supported Nixon’s desire to ride as much as he could, and then compete.

The year 2016 was a huge one for Nixon. He turned five years old in January, started school in February and by the following month in March he had won his first National Title. Having achieved this #1 NZ title there was no turning back. He has worked extremely hard over the past five years and now has numerous NZ Titles to his name.

When questioned as to what he loves about his ‘BMX world’ Nixon talks about how much he enjoys jumping, manualing and off the track all the great mates he has made along the way, who share the same passion he does for BMX riding.

Over the past few years Nixon has shown interest in BMX Freestyle riding skateparks, dirt jumps & airbags which he really enjoys. He has been fortunate enough to ride amongst some of the best in NZ, including the inspiring Jed Mildon. He had the opportunity to ride at the Franklin Farm where he learnt to backflip into the foam pit which was a goal he set himself & was so stoked to achieve.

The future horizon for this kid is huge and he has just the right ‘awesome upbeat attitude’ to go with it. He is very grateful to Jumpflex for all their support and is so pumped to be a part of the team.
